About Gillingham FC Scrapbook
A collection of Match Reports, Videos, Statistics, Photographs,
Programmes and other articles from the last 131 years.
New Brompton v Southend Utd 1908-09
While clearing my loft out several years ago I came across a box of Gillingham FC scrapbooks which I kept during the mid to late sixties. After making my mind up to throw them out I thought before doing so I would scan them all in first. Having done that I then decided I would need some way of viewing them which is when I came up with the idea of creating this website.
Since then I have borrowed scrapbooks from other fans and I have also managed to find old newspapers from the on-line Newspaper Archive website. After that I uploaded old video highlights from any games I had going back as far as 1950. Team Line-ups, goalscorers and attendances were then added from the very first game in 1893 right up to the present day so if there is any video footage for a game or a newspaper match report then there will be a link to it.
The aim is to have a newspaper match report and/or video highlights for every first team game since 1893. (There is now a report and/or video highlights for every game since rejoining the league in 1950).
Missing Match Reports since 1894
A Team Photo and a Programme for each season have also been added as well as a selection of handbooks and supporter magazines from over the years.
There is also now a photo of every player to play a first team game for the club since 1950.
Since the 2020 lockdown I have now uploaded all my home and away programmes from 1950 to 2007.
(I would be interested if anyone out there has any old pre-war programmes they wouldn't mind scanning in).
Missing Home Programmes 1950-2007
Missing Player Photos from 1920
I am continually adding newspaper match reports which I obtain from various sources and any new archive video footage that I come across. (Videos from recent seasons are links to the Official Club YouTube channel). Again, if anyone has any old match reports or articles they think might be of interest please get in touch.
Having done all that I still couldn't bring myself to throw my old scrapbooks away after all and they are now back where I found them - in the loft.
If you have any ideas or suggestions or if you would like to contribute anything to the site please feel free to contact me on gillinghamfcscrapbook@talktalk.net
